Day 1: Cusco to Soraypampa

  • Morning: Start early from Cusco (4:00 am). Drive to Mollepata for breakfast, then continue to Challacancha to begin the trek. Walk for about 3 hours along a gentle path to Soraypampa, enjoying stunning views of glaciers and valleys.
  • Afternoon: After lunch, hike up to the beautiful Humantay Lake. The turquoise waters and snowy backdrop are breathtaking. The round-trip hike takes about 3 hours.
  • Evening: Return to the Sky Camp in Soraypampa. Enjoy a warm dinner and relax in the unique igloo-style tents under the stars.

Day 2: Soraypampa to Chaullay

  • Morning: Wake up early and enjoy coca tea with views of Salkantay Mountain. Hike up to Salkantay Pass (4,630 m), the trek’s highest point. The climb is challenging but offers incredible views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Afternoon: Descend into the cloud forest, where the scenery transforms into lush greenery. Stop for lunch at Huayracmachay before continuing through diverse landscapes.
  • Evening: Arrive at the Mountain Sky View Campsite in Chaullay. Enjoy dinner and rest after a long but rewarding day.

Day 3: Chaullay to Aguas Calientes

  • Morning: Walk through the Santa Teresa Valley, a tropical paradise with waterfalls, orchids, and coffee plantations. Arrive at La Playa for lunch and a coffee demonstration.
  • Afternoon: Travel by car to Hidroelectrica, then hike 3 hours along train tracks to Aguas Calientes. If tired, you can take the train instead.
  • Evening: Relax in a hotel in Aguas Calientes. Explore the town, enjoy a delicious dinner, and prepare for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.

Day 4: Machu Picchu

  • Morning: Wake up early to take the first bus to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour of the ancient Inca city, exploring its temples, terraces, and plazas.
  • Optional Activities: Hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for panoramic views.
  • Afternoon: Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Take the train to Ollantaytambo and then a car back to Cusco.
  • Evening: Arrive in Cusco with memories of an amazing adventure.
