Itinerary

Day 1

Morning: Pick up at your stay in Arequipa (historic center) from 8:00 AM.
Late morning: Depart in a private 4×4 vehicle towards Chachani (5,000 m) for a 3-hour drive.
Afternoon: Begin a 2-hour hike to 5,200 meters above sea level. Set up camp.
Evening: Enjoy dinner at around 5:00 pm. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 2

Early morning: Start the ascent between 12:00 and 1:00 am with breakfast.
Morning: Slow climb (5 to 6 hours) to the summit (6,026 m). Enjoy views of the ancient crater and the beautiful landscape.
Afternoon: Descend back to Base Camp, pack up all camping gear, and return to Arequipa, arriving around 3:00 pm.

Pre-trek briefing for your Chachani trek

The evening before your Chachani trek, you will attend a pre-trek briefing in Arequipa. Here, you meet your guide, review final details, and prepare the last essentials for this exciting 2-day expedition to Chachani Peru.

Day 1: Start of the Chachani trek and Base Camp

Morning: We gather at 8:00 AM at the office. You meet your certified guide and fellow trekkers. Together, we carefully check all equipment to ensure everyone is ready for the climb up Chachani volcano.
Late morning to afternoon: Around 9:00 AM, we leave Arequipa by private 4×4 vehicle. The scenic drive takes about 3 hours to reach 5,000 meters above sea level, where the Chachani trek begins. From there, we hike for 2 hours to Base Camp at 5,200 meters, surrounded by the peaceful Andes.
Evening: A hot dinner is served around 5:00 PM at the camp. Remember to bring extra snacks, as only one meal is included this day. After dinner, we rest early under the stars, preparing for the summit ascent.

Day 2: Summit of Chachani volcano and return to Arequipa

Early morning: After a light breakfast, we start the summit push between 12:00 and 1:00 AM.
Morning to early afternoon: The ascent to the summit of Chachani Peru takes about 5 to 6 hours at a steady pace. Upon reaching 6,026 meters, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Chachani volcano and neighboring peaks like Misti and Pichu Pichu.
Afternoon: After taking in the views and celebrating at the summit, we descend back to Base Camp. Once packed, we drive back to Arequipa by 4×4, arriving around 3:00 PM.
