Itinerary
Pick up and preparation for rafting
- Pick up at your stay: We’ll pick you up directly from your hostel/hotel/airbnb in Arequipa.
- Departure times: Choose a time that suits you: 08:00 AM, 11:00 AM, or 2:00 PM.
Start of the adventure
- Travel to meet the team: After picking up all travelers, we’ll head to meet the rest of the team and collect our equipment.
- Gear up and briefing: Upon arrival, get all the rafting gear you need and a detailed safety briefing from your instructor.
The Rio Chili Rafting experience
- Launch: Start your 5-6 km (about 1:30 hours) journey down the Rio Chili in rafts that fit six people and a guide.
- Course and scenery: Tackle exciting rapids and take in the stunning natural beauty that makes this adventure special.
- Optional 3-meter jump: For an extra thrill, you can leap from a 3-meter rock into the river under our team’s guidance.
- Finish: The rafting ends in the Chilina district.
Return to Arequipa
- Return journey: After your rafting adventure, we’ll drive you back to the initial meeting point.
- Duration: The entire trip, including transport, preparation, and rafting, takes about 3 hours.

Join us for an unforgettable Rio Chili rafting adventure in Peru. This 3-hour experience combines excitement and stunning nature. Perfect for adventurers and nature lovers, it’s a safe and thrilling journey you won’t forget.
What you’ll experience during Rio Chili Rafting
1. Expert guidance and easy preparation
We’ll pick you up from your stay in Arequipa and drive to Gruta de la Virgen de Chapi. There, our staff team will join us with all the gear you will need: rafts, paddles, life vests, helmets, wetsuits, jackets, and water-friendly footwear. Our expert instructors will give a safety briefing in English so you’re ready for the adventure.
2. Rafting on the Rio Chili
You’ll raft 6 km down the Rio Chili, with calm sections and exciting rapids. It’s perfect for beginners and experienced rafters. A guide in each raft ensures your safety and shares interesting facts about the local area. The river is classified as a class 3 or 4 river.
3. Stunning natural views
Enjoy breathtaking views of mountains, valleys, and unique landscapes as you glide through the river. The scenery is beautiful and makes this adventure even better!
4. Optional 3-meter rock jump
For an extra thrill, take the chance to jump from a rock about 3 meters high into the river. It’s a safe and exciting way to add even more adventure to your day. This activity is optional and guided by our team.
5. Finish in Chilina District
After rafting, relax in the tranquil Chilina district. Here you will receive a bottle of water and a snack. Also, if you want to buy your photos (10 soles), you can do so here.

What to bring
- Swimwear: Wear clothes that can get wet! These clothes will go underneath your wetsuit.
- Sun protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect against the sun.
- Waterproof camera: For capturing the excitement of the rapids (optional).
- Change of clothes: For after the rafting experience, ensuring you can travel back comfortably.
- Towel: To dry off after your adventure.
- Personal ID: Always good to have on you in case it’s needed for verification purposes.
- A small backpack or dry bag: To keep your items secure and dry during the trip (optional, as you will leave most belongings in the transport vehicle). Remember, the tour includes all necessary rafting equipment, so focus on personal items that will make your experience more comfortable and enjoyable.
