See sea lions, penguins, and the famous red beaches of Paracas in one easy day. This Paracas full day tour combines the Ballestas Islands boat trip with the Paracas National Reserve, with smooth timing, clear organization, and expert guides.
This Paracas full day follows a clear structure, combining a morning boat tour with an afternoon land excursion, with a short break in between.
Meeting point: 7:40 AM near the Paracas sign in the city center
Boat departure: 8:00 AM
The day starts with your boat tour to the Ballestas Islands. This part of the experience is led by a captain and guide. The navigation takes place on a modern boat designed for a comfortable and safe ride.
Your first major stop is the Candelabro de Paracas, a large geoglyph on the hillside facing the sea. Its origin is still debated, but it is one of the best-known historical symbols in the area and is often connected in local interpretation with the Nazca culture.
From there, you continue toward the Ballestas Islands, where you can observe impressive rock formations, arches, and cliffs shaped by wind and sea over many years. During the route, you will also see well-known formations such as the Arch of Wishes and other natural profiles in the rocks.
The most popular part of the boat trip is the wildlife viewing. The islands are home to Humboldt penguins, sea lions, and many seabirds. Your guide will make stops at the best observation points so you can enjoy the scenery and take photos from a respectful distance.
At the end of the navigation, you return to the dock. The total boat tour lasts around 1.5 to 2 hours.
Departure: 11:00 AM
Return: around 3:10 PM
At the indicated time, you board shared transport for your guided visit to the Paracas National Reserve. This protected area is known for its unique mix of desert, ocean, cliffs, and beaches.
Your first stops include some of the reserve’s best viewpoints. One of them is the Cathedral viewpoint, where you can appreciate the coastal landscape and the remains of the famous rock formation that was partially damaged during the 2007 earthquake. This area is also known for birdlife and wide ocean views.
You then continue to the Isthmus viewpoint, one of the best panoramic points in the reserve. From here, you can better understand the scale of the peninsula and the contrast between the desert terrain and the Pacific Ocean.
Another highlight of the day is Playa Roja, one of the most distinctive beaches in Peru. Its reddish sand and surrounding cliffs make it one of the most photographed places in Paracas. It is also considered one of the most unique coastal landscapes in South America.
Later, you visit La Mina Beach, where you have around 30 minutes of free time to relax, enjoy the scenery, and take photos.
The final major stop is Lagunillas Beach, where you have time for lunch by the sea. Lunch is not included, so you can choose what you would like to eat locally. This small coastal area is also a nice place to observe birds, fishing boats, and the natural setting before returning to Paracas town.
After lunch, you return to Paracas. The entire excursion is accompanied by a guide.
