Start of the Laguna 513 tour

The day starts early with a 6:00 am departure from Huaraz. You’ll drive to Carhuaz and then head east towards the Cordillera Blanca. Along the way, you’ll pass through the town of Hualcán, where you can see various agricultural crops and domestic animals from the local communities. The drive offers splendid views of the majestic Huascarán mountain.

The hike: Upon reaching the entrance of the Shonquil valley, you start hiking along an almost flat path. The trail then becomes an ascending zigzag path parallel to the Chucchún river, leading to the Rajupaquinán lagoon. This part of the hike is quite scenic, with the river accompanying your ascent.

Laguna 513: Continuing the climb, you eventually reach Laguna 513, located right at the foot of the Hualcán mountain, which stands at 6,350 meters.
