Day 1: Cusco – Aguas Calientes
Your last-minute Machu Picchu tour by train starts early in the morning. Between 2:50 and 3:00 am, a private vehicle will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco and take you to the bus station. You’ll then travel by bus to Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board a train to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu town.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, head to the sales office to purchase your entry ticket for Machu Picchu. You’ll be staying at a standard hotel, where you can rest and have breakfast the next morning before your visit to Machu Picchu. In the evening, your guide will meet with you to go over the plan for the next day’s adventure.
Day 2: Machu Picchu and return to Cusco
After an early breakfast at the hotel, you can choose to walk to Machu Picchu (approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes) or take a bus ($15 one way, $24 round trip). Your guided tour of Machu Picchu will last about 1.5 hours, followed by another 1.5 hours of free time to explore the site on your own.
After your visit, return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, you’ll take a bus back to Cusco. A private vehicle will be waiting at the bus station to take you back to your accommodation.

In case there are no Machu Picchu tickets left when you arrive in Aguas Calientes, we provide all help to stay another day in Aguas Calientes to buy your ticket the next day. Besides the fee of the train operator, we will not charge extra costs for rescheduling your return train.
